Don't Give Up
As a child growing up, my mother stayed home with my sister, my brother, and myself and seemed happy being a housewife. I was happy with this because this meant I would have a snack ready when I got home from school and dinner wasn't long behind. I was fortunate when my two sons were tots to be able to stay home and care for them as well, but when they were both in school, I needed to busy myself somewhere besides home. So....well, I followed them to school. And that is where I am today and happily so, if I do say.  But sometimes things change and you suddenly realize that like my father, who was our main provider financially growing up, my life may be going a different direction.  Health issues force us to examine our lives and realize that, Wow, I may need to step up! I remember reading an issue of Mary Jane's Farm magazine and focusing on how bad sunblock was for our skin.  All the cancer causing agents with names that would take a genius to pronounce, was shocking to me. I began to research and all beginnings, kept ending with Goat's Milk! This is when I became a scientist, as my husband says, experimenting with all these wonderful natural ingredients.  I came up with pleasing products to me, and to my surprise lots of other people too. This is when Journey's Edge Farm was created.  It is still a work in progress but I am so fortunate to have this opportunity to not only help myself and my family but also be able to share these fortifying products with others. So women, if you need a little push to accomplish a dream or help you find one, just let me know. I am proof that we can do whatever we put our minds to!

  2. I love that, when finding out the truth behind the sunblocks, you decided to do something pro-active. So many of us, when we learn something distasteful, just accept it as the way things are. It is encouraging to me that you wanted to make a change, and went for it!

  3. Hi! I'm visiting from small farm girl's blog. I'm interested to know more about this sunscreen thing. I had malignant melanoma when I was 26 so I don't dare go out without sunscreen, but I HATE putting those chemicals on my skin! I have Kinder goats, chickens, and we raise hogs to put in the freezer every year. Welcome to blogging!

    1. Hey I know what you mean, I didn't really ever pay attention to what I put on my skin, I just knew I needed to protect it, but then I read an article in Mary Janes Farm about all the cancer causing parabens that are in a lot of our sunscreens. So I researched and began to wonder if maybe we are inviting, so to say, these skin monsters in without knowing. It's Scary!!

  7. Just followed the link over from Small Farm Girl's place. Sounds like we have a lot in common. We purchased a tiny farm a couple years ago. Due to health & financial issues, we've been slow to get relocated full time. We're hoping we can be ready to move by next spring so we can get some chickens, a couple pigs and maybe goats! I spent last weekend setting up my new blog - http://auldsodfarm.blogspot.com. Well it's not completely finished yet but it's getting there.

I'm interested in your products. I have very sensitive skin and have a long history of skin cancer in the family. Looking forward to following you. Good luck with the blog!

  8. Hi,
Just popped over from Small Farm Girl, and following.
Can I recommend adding a google friend connect follow button on the side.
My Mom and I learned about sunblock several years back. It didn't make sense to us that putting something clear on your skin could protect you from the sun, when it can burn you through light weight clothing. And isn't it always the people that are always using the sunscreen that end up with the skin cancer that kills.

    1. Yes, if you notice skin cancer has become worse in the last say ten years, and is it because of the sunscreen? It's kind of ironic that sunscreen became a must in households around this time. Ok, I am new to blogging can you guide me to where the google friend button is? Thanks, new to all this.
